Residential Services

Agape Care offers 24 hour residential support to adults with an intellectual disability.  We currently have three residential homes in the West Auckland area.

Each service user has their own bedroom and takes part in the running of the home by engaging in daily domestic activities.  Regular resident meetings are held to discuss issues and activites and make decisions.  These meetings are also an opportunity for each service user to provide feedback on their level of satisfaction with the day to day running of the house.

Every service user has a lifestye plan that is developed in conjunction with their family/whanau/advocate, and this plan is the basis for their social activities and skill development.

Each service user also has an annual needs assessment and the level of support they receive, including personal cares, financial management, meal preparation and medical care is tailored around their individual level of need.

Friends and family/whanau are encouraged to be part of the service user's life and are always welcome at the home.

Vocational Services

Our vocational programme focuses on skill development and community participation.  Each service user has a vocational plan, and their daily programme is targeted at meeting the goals and aspirations contained in that plan.

Examples of activities available through the vocational programme are:

Arts and Craft and Activities: Painting, knitting, sewing, cross stitch, cognitive games/exercises, writing

Home Economics: Cooking, shopping, banking.

Physical Exercise: Regular walking, dance/drama, use of exercise equipment i.e. Exercycle and treadmills, spa

Gardening: Planting, lawn mowing, garden clearing

Computers: Email, Facebook, games, typing

The Programme is also focused on community participation.  We support service users to deliver meals on wheels, participate in the Ranui Twin Streams Beautification Project, deliver a weekly newspaper and access community facilities such as the Library and public swimming pools.
